Scientific Program Now Online

At last!! We are excited to share that the ITRS 2025 Scientific Program for oral presentations and for the Poster session are now available for viewing.

Please note, this program is a work in progress and updates are still being made especially with regard to last minute registrations. Changes to the program may occur, but presenters and session organisers will be notified by email if their session moves to a different date or time (we will do our best to avoid this).

The program is responsive and will give you a clear day-by-day view on your smartphone or tablet. We will soon be providing downloadable pdfs...please bear with us!

If you're still looking for affordable accomodation during ITRS, please consider Brest's high-quality, low-cost youth hostel.

Located in a wooded seafront park, it is ideally situated next to the Moulin Blanc marina, a stone's throw from Océanopolis and the National Botanical Conservatory.

The building has remarkable architecture, furnishings and grounds and has been listed as a Historic Monument since 2018. This is the first youth hostel in France to obtain such a title!

Single, double and family rooms are still available during ITRS, as are spaces in shared single sex 4-bed rooms.

You can book your accomodation either directly on the online platform, or by emailing brest@ostal.org. In both cases please mention (either in the comments on the online platform or in your email) that you are attending ITRS.

More traditional accommodation is also available at our partner hotels in Brest.

Second Call for Abstracts

In response to continued interest from our community, the ITRS Local Organising Committee is happy to once again invite researchers and students to submit abstracts for a poster or oral presentation at the 14th International Temperate Reefs Symposium, July 1-5, 2025. Please visit the abstract submission page.

Submissions for the second call for abstracts are due January 24, 2025 23:59 CET

When will abstract submitters hear back about acceptance?

Participants can expect a decision notification by February 21, 2025 at the latest. Please note that this is before the end of the early registration period.

Is this a call for “late-breaking” abstracts of exceptional interest?
No, we are interested in the same kind of work as in the initial call for abstracts.

However, due to the strong response to our initial call for abstracts, space for oral presentations is likely to be limited for participants submitting in January. Committee members may offer acceptance for a poster to some submitters who request an oral presentation.

Annals of Botany Special Issue on Macroalgae Ecosystem Services

Following on from the success of the ITRS 2023 Hobart thematic session ‘Macroalgae in a Changing World' and associated Special Issue published in Annals of Botany earlier this year, Annals of Botany and ITRS 2025 are delighted to announce a follow up ‘Macroalgae and Ecosystem Services' session for the ITRS meeting in Brest in July 2025.

This session aims to capture research dealing with a variety of critical cultural, provisioning and supporting Ecosystem Services provided by seaweeds and offers a platform for anyone with relevant materials to present at ITRS. We anticipate that the follow-up Special issue will appear early in 2026, so please also consider submission of relevant primary science or reviews to that Special Issue when we announce its launch in 2025.

First Call for Abstracts

We are delighted to invite you to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation at the 2025 International Temperate Reefs Symposium, to be held at the Quartz in Brest, France, from July 1-5 2025.

Please visit the online submission page. Abstracts are encouraged to address the conference themes, that the 14th ITRS organisers have curated to highlight the diversity of current research on temperate reefs.

Please note that registration to the conference will open end of October.
